I am a Licensed Massage Therapist specializing in Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue, and relaxation techniques. I graduated from Body Mind Academy in 2000. My emphasis for continuing education over the years has been Myofascial Release under the teaching of John Barnes. I’ve been a dancer and dance instructor for over 30 years. I am fascinated with how the human body moves, how dancers restore balance to the body, and how we recover from injury.
I believe we hold stories of trauma in the body. This trauma affects our posture and connection to ourselves and others, contributing to pain and dysfunction. Through massage (especially Myofascial Release), patterns of holding and guarding can be softened and changed. Myofascial Release is a gradual process that honors the body, soul, and mind to release when it is ready and safe.
My goal as a practitioner is to help clients integrate body, mind, and heart. I work with anyone seeking relaxation, pain relief, connection to the body, and connection to their trauma stories. In addition, I lead small groups called “Embody,” a multi-session format that includes Myofascial Release, Therapeutic Movement, and story work to help participants explore how their story has affected their body and life choices.
In addition to being a Licensed Massage Practitioner and dance instructor, I teach Kinesiology, Stretch and Strength, and Foam Roller classes. In 2013, I received my Certificate from The Allender Center in Seattle, with a focus on Abuse and Trauma.
