I’m a down to earth counselor who uses plain language and humor, when appropriate, while we work together. As a therapist, I have training in several models of change.* For decades, I have used my varied skill set to work with teens, men, women, and families of diverse backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs. As a professional musician and a counselor, I also specialize in working with creative people from all areas of the arts looking to remove obstacles from their artistic flow and productivity.
No one wakes up so happy that they decide to change their life. You are suffering in some way and want to do something about it. That’s a great place to start our work.
Most of us look for help at some point in life, and there are many reasons why. You may be seeking help with trouble resulting from transitions in your life or feeling trapped/stuck in a pattern that is not good for you. You may find that you are struggling with experiences you have had in the past that are interfering with your present life. You may be feeling anxious, lonely, depressed, sad, or confused. There may be problems at work, home, your social life, your finances, or maybe you are just not feeling good about life in general. Whatever your reasons, I am an expert at promoting and supporting change.
I have decades of experience in a wide variety of therapeutic settings including hospitals, residential treatment, home-based therapies, experiential R.O.P.E.S. challenge course instruction, school-based day treatment, and outpatient therapy.
*My training and experience include: psychodynamic therapy, short-term solution-focused work, behavioral psychology, experiential therapy, resiliency training, narrative approaches to therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Please contact me to discuss what you are needing from counseling and we will make an appointment to decide if we are a good fit.
